Veteran Indian television and film actor Rituraj Singh passed away late last night at the age of 59 due to a sudden cardiac arrest.
According to close friend and actor Amit Behl, Rituraj complained of uneasiness around midnight at his Mumbai residence before collapsing. He was immediately rushed to Kokilaben Hospital but was declared dead on arrival around 12.30 am on February 20, 2024.
Brilliant Actor and Wonderful Human Being
The acclaimed actor was best known for his powerful performances in hit shows like Anupamaa, Banegi Apni Baat, Hitler Didi and Adaalat over his prolific career spanning over three decades. He had also acted in films such as Badrinath Ki Dulhania and Thunivu.
Friend and producer Sandiip Sikcand expressed his shock at the untimely demise of the man he called one of the finest human beings and a brilliant talent. Rituraj was last seen playing a pivotal role in Sikcand’s show Kahaan Hum Kahaan Tum on Star Plus.
Final Performance
Rituraj had been busy shooting for his role as the strict but soft-hearted father in Sony TV’s new serial Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. His sudden death has left the cast and crew of the show devastated.
The last rites will be performed today itself as per his family’s wishes. The show’s producers are figuring out whether to continue with the same storyline or rework it given the unfortunate loss of a key character.
Pancreatic Illness and Cardiac Arrest
According to sources, Rituraj was undergoing treatment for a pancreatic condition over the last year. Pancreatic diseases are often linked to cardiac complications, especially in patients with risk factors like diabetes and hypertension.
Risk Factors and Health Issues
It is suspected that the acclaimed actor was battling risk factors like high blood pressure and cholesterol levels. The inflammation arising from pancreatic illness can damage blood vessels and increase clotting leading to heart attacks, especially in vulnerable patients.
Rituraj is survived by his wife and two children. The entertainment fraternity mourned the sudden loss of the versatile and respected actor on social media. His funeral service will be held later today in Mumbai.
